Special Education services should never be on the chopping block, especially when considering the impact on student outcomes in Wake County public schools, as these are crucial for effective educational governance.
As a lifelong resident of Raleigh, a graduate of Wake County Public Schools, and a father of four children—ranging from a high school senior to a seven-year-old in elementary school—I've experienced our schools from nearly every perspective.
I’ve sat in the same classrooms where today’s students learn. I’ve watched my children grow and develop in Wake County public schools. I’ve celebrated the outstanding teachers who have made a lasting difference in their lives, and I’ve witnessed the challenges facing one of the largest school districts in the nation. These experiences have solidified my belief that investing in Wake County’s public schools is essential and that we must continually strive for improvement.
I am committed to ensuring our community expects both excellent educational governance and responsible stewardship of the resources we entrust. These goals are complementary—they rely on each other.
This belief inspired me to create The Wake Framework—a practical approach to school governance grounded in a simple principle: every significant new discretionary investment should be connected to measurable improvements in student outcomes, coupled with transparent public reporting and a focus on continuous improvement.
The Wake Framework is not aimed at reducing support for public education. Instead, it seeks to bolster public confidence by ensuring every major budget decision is data-driven, student-centered, and assessed by tangible results.
As your representative on the Wake County Board of Education, I will prioritize keeping students at the heart of every decision. I will support our dedicated teachers, engage parents as partners, demand transparent and accountable governance, and focus every substantial investment on a key question: How will this help more students succeed?
Wake County has long been acknowledged for its educational excellence. Together, we can enhance that legacy by ensuring our schools remain robust, our teachers receive the support they deserve, our families are listened to, and every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
That’s the promise of The Wake Framework—and the commitment I will bring to serving our community.
